What it is
DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a steroid hormone produced mainly by your adrenal glands. It is the most abundant circulating hormone in the body and acts as an upstream precursor — the raw material from which your body can make downstream sex hormones, including testosterone and estradiol. DHEA and its storage form, DHEA-S, decline steadily and predictably with age.
Low-dose supplemental DHEA is used to support levels that have fallen below optimal. Because it is a hormone rather than a vitamin, it is always guided by a measured DHEA-S blood level — not taken speculatively.
At Healthi Life, DHEA 10 mg is introduced within a physician-guided plan — most often after an hormone mapping and advanced check-up and as part of our longevity programs. Eligibility, dose and suitability are determined after a medical consultation.
Why the dose is kept low
DHEA is a true hormone, and more is not better. A modest 10 mg dose is a deliberately conservative, physiological amount — intended to gently support the body's own precursor pool rather than to flood it. Higher doses can push downstream testosterone and estrogen beyond optimal and produce unwanted effects. The correct dose is the one that moves your measured DHEA-S into the optimal range and no further, which is why this protocol pairs supplementation with follow-up testing.

Why morning
Your body's own DHEA secretion follows a daily rhythm, peaking in the early morning. Taking the capsule in the morning mirrors this natural pattern and supports daytime hormonal balance. Morning dosing also avoids any activating effect interfering with sleep. Taking it with breakfast supports steady absorption.
Safety note — hormonal compound
DHEA is a hormone that converts into estrogens and androgens. The following points are essential:
- Anyone with a current or past hormone-sensitive condition — breast, ovarian, uterine or prostate cancer — should not take DHEA without direct oncology or physician guidance.
- DHEA should be dosed to a measured DHEA-S level and rechecked at follow-up, never taken blindly or at high doses.
- At higher doses, women may notice androgenic effects (acne, oily skin, hair changes) and men may notice estrogenic effects; report any such changes.
- It may interact with hormone therapy, and with medications affecting hormone metabolism — review your full medication list with your physician.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use caution with mood or psychiatric conditions, as DHEA can subtly affect mood.
