Semaglutide is a prescription-only medicine. Under the Thai Drug Act (พ.ร.บ.ยา) a prescription medicine may not be advertised to the general public, and it may only be dispensed after a physician has assessed the individual — it cannot be bought over the counter, online, or from a non-medical seller. It is legal in Thailand when prescribed and supervised by a licensed physician, with no residency or long-term visa required. Registration status of a medicinal product can be checked with the Thai Food and Drug Administration (อย.). It is not appropriate during pregnancy, when planning pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN-2, or with a history of pancreatitis.
